Daily Rites In Shadani Darbar
(From 1708)

The daily rites and routines beings performed today in all the shadani darbars , either in pakistan or in india , are exactly the same as those were observed in the days of Saint Shada Ram Sahib the Founder of Shadani Darbar . Some details are given as under:-


1.The Morning Rites :-

At Amrit Wela ( before sun rise ) a shewadari ( desciple ) , after having bath , comes in Darbar Sahib Rings the bells and beats the drum for some minutes.

This sweet voice feels very pleasant to them to them who are still in bed .

This is to inform him that the time for getting up has already arrived.

Then the holy books such as , Shri Ramayan , Puran , Shrimad Bhagwad Gita Sahib and Guru Giranth Sahib are opened with great reverence already at rest on thier throne . After this , the Akhand Path Sahib of all 24 Ashtpadis of Sukhmani Sahib are recited. Asadiwar ( Gurwani ) is another worship .

In this a team of singer desciples , sing Guruwani at harmonium and tambourine . Then a chapter or some verses are read from the Ramayan Puran or Shrimad Bhagwat or from some other Puran before the listeners or in last , a joint benediction is made to god for the Vish -a- kalyan ( the walfare of whole universal ) the holy Parshad of Guru Nanak Sahib , Kanah Sahib is distributed and then the break fast is served. This is the end of morning routnine.

2.Serving of Lunch:-

The Guests and the desciples have been coming in Shadani Darbar for the day-long.

At noon, the bhandaro (lunch) is served to all the people.

In Shadani Darbar , the people, after the announcement of " Jai Shada Ram " start eating together and leave their places to gether. If there is only one man still eating , all the rest wait for him till he completes it.


3.Serving of Tukri :-

Tukri means light food , a bread with some vegetable is served to each person available in darbar at sun set.


4.Sandhya Performances :-

Sandhya means evening. In Shadani Darbar Dharmin ( religious ) performances are held two time a day-early in the morning and late after sun set.

The morning performances have already been mentioned above,the rest evening performances are as under:-

Shri Jap Sahib , Rahiras Sahib and Kirtan Sohila are recited after sun set , by different diciples , a great number of diciples attend this worship .

Guru mantar is meditated in mind for some minutes. After it , the joint beneiction is made in end of this part of prayer. A bit after this , a group of Arti Singers ( verses in praise of god and saints ) , sing Arties of God , Shiv Bhagwan , and those of the Shadani Saints at harmonium and tambourine.

The holy books are wrapped in clean cloths folding around them. Soon after , Sami-ja-salok ( verses composed by sami ) are read in a peculiar melodious tone , a chapter from Ramayan or other Puran is read , in last some bhajans , motivating people to worship , are sung on harmoniums and tambourine etc , in last dinner is served.
